The women's national soccer Truman for the NCAA tournament for the third straight season and eighth time overall lead as the Bulldogs - 4th Seed in the region - will meet face Nebraska-Omaha in the first round of the tournament of 2009, in Canyon, Texas, is on the campus of West Texas A & M. Truman (14-3-3) won the MIAA championship by two points over UNO (13-5-2) and is set to face the Mavericks for the fifth time in the program’s post-season history. The Bulldogs will be looking for the first win against UNO in post-season play, having gone 0-4 in the first four meetings.The winner of Friday’s match will take on the South Central region’s top seed and weekend host West Texas A&M (14-2-3) on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm.The Bulldogs and Mavericks split their two meetings this season, with UNO taking a 4-1 decision in Omaha, Neb., on Sept. 12 before the Bulldogs bounced back with a 1-0 win in Kirksville on Sept. 26. The squads then battled atop the MIAA standings throughout October and early November with the Bulldogs clinching the 2009 regular season MIAA championship this past Saturday when UNO dropped a 1-0 decision at Central Missouri in both teams’ season finale.
The Bulldogs and the Lady Mavericks ring forms two south-central a sub-regionals, while the incarnate Word (Texas) St. Edward's (Texas host) and Central Oklahoma on the other side of the regional brackets. The two teams will face this weekend, before the site of the largest in the rest of the Western team next Thursday or Friday.
