Today is a sad day. 'Mermaid Girl' Shiloh Pepin died at the age of ten. This little girl was born with rare condition in his legs fused together. This is the "mermaid syndrome" or sirenomelia.
After being predicted for only having the ability to survive for days by doctors at her birth, she died ten years later defying all odds. Her mother said that her daughter was "a tough little thing".

Shiloh died after coming down with a terrible cold that turned into pneumonia. Despite medicine and the ventilator she was strapped to, she didn't pull through. Shiloh's story made it on the "The Oprah Winfrey Show". She also had a documentary on TLC. From there she gained a following on the internet and tv. People around the world are being touched by her story.
Shiloh never had the ability to have surgery to separate her legs as important blood vessels crossing side to side in her circulatory system would kill her.(c) tPC
